BOGO CITY, Cebu, June 22, 2017 – This week, the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States Pacific Command Air Force will begin the annual humanitarian mission known as Pacific Angel.

Pacific Angel is part of the Mutual Defense Board-Security Engagement Board approved programs involving the conduct of joint and combined Humanitarian Civic Action/Military Operations activity that aims to enhance the response capability and promote interoperability between regional militaries and civilian organizations on Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Response operations. Pacific Angel involves the provision of health services, civil engineering works, as well as subject matter expert exchanges.

In this year’s Pacific Angel, the U.S. military along with their Filipino counterparts and personnel from Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji will assist people in Bogo City and neighboring San Remigio town.

In Bogo City, engineers will undertake structural, electrical, and plumbing works on Libertad Elementary School and Cayang National High School while health workers will provide medical, optometry, dental, and physical therapy in the health services operation in Libertad Elementary School. In addition, subject matter expert exchanges will focus on medical response in disasters and public health.
