For being the local government unit with most number of recruited blood donors, the City of Bogo was recognized by the Department of Health during its National Voluntary Blood Services Program 6th Annual Blood Partners’ Forum and Awarding Ceremony. The forum was held on the first day of August at the Crown Regency Suites in Mactan.

Having been donated more than 350 units of blood for the past year, the City of Bogo was also honoured by DOH as a Platinum Awardee.

“The strategy used was the pulong-pulong done in the sitio level, informing them of the importance & benefits they get in donating blood”, explained Dr. Minerva Arnado Millor, City Health Officer of the City of Bogo, when asked in an interview.

The blood collected from donors is stored at a blood bank which in the future will benefit patients who would need it for transfusion.

“We are very appreciative of the support of Mayor Carlo Martinez and Vice Mayor Mayel Martinez for their full support of the program. We will continue with the program as to attract and encourage more Bogohanons to donate blood to be used by those who would mostly need it in the future”, added Dr. Millor.

Dr. Millor personally received the plaque and certificates of recognition in behalf of the City of Bogo.
