The City of Bogo exceeds its target number of examinees for the Civil Service Examination for this year. Initially, the Human Resources and Management Office aims to reach at least 1,000 examinees on the deadline of registration but was made to close registration days earlier before the deadline because of the influx of individuals that registered.

This year, the City of Bogo has catered to 1,800 examinees that seek to be granted Civil Service sub-professional and professional eligibility.

A massive campaign was done as early as November encouraging individuals to take the Civil Service Examination. The Human Resources and Management Office of the City Government of Bogo engaged in fervent information dissemination and put up off-site registration venues to bring the registration closer and easier to those who seek to register that could not go to the New Bogo City hall in Barangay Cayang. These off-site registration venues included schools, malls, and some in other Municipalities like Medellin, Daan Bantayan, Tabogon, San Remigio, and Bantayan Island.

This is the second year that Bogo was approved by the Civil Service Commission as one of its number of Testing Centers in the entire country.

The examinees were not only from the City of Bogo but as well as from its neighboring Municipalities as far as Bantayan Island and the island of Masbate.

As the City of Bogo became a testing center for individuals from Northern Cebu over  the weekend, it also experienced an economic boost due to the traffic of individuals from all over Cebu Province and its neighboring islands that flocked to the city.

‘’There were so many commuters so it made earnings better for us (tricycle drivers). We also noticed the long lines in the different fast-food chains as well as ‘karenderyas’’, Elmer, a tricycle driver exclaimed.

Should the City of Bogo reach the target number of registered examinees for next year, it will be the city’s third year in bringing the Civil Service Examination closer to the people of Cebu North and those who, in taking the exam, wish to avoid the hassle and traffic of highly urbanized cities.

“For our future plans, we seek to add additional classrooms. The City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy Senior High will have 16 new classrooms by October of this year so by March 2019; we can capacitate more than 2,000 examinees. This is our next target and we hope that we get this realized as well”, revealed HRMO head, Slavsky Ybanez.
