The City of Bogo in partnership with DepEd Bogo City launch “Barkada Kontra Droga” a peer-based preventive education and information program to counter the dangers and ill effects of drug abuse. The launching of the program hopes to encourage participation of more in and out-of school youth, and eventually organize them into a movement of young people who are catalysts within their peer groups in advocating a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
“When people are given the opportunity and chances to change, they will rise up to that expectation”,this was what City Vice Mayor & Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program Chair Mayel Martinez shared to student participants and guests during the Launching.
Also in attendance were CPADAO head , Ivy Durano Meca , New DepEd Bogo City Superintendent Dr. Rosalie Pasaol, the Rehabilitation and Reintegration (RERE) Program facilitators and beneficiaries, educators, students, and stakeholders.
The program aims to bring the fight against drugs to the schools. Being the second home to the young, schools and people we get acquainted with and later on become our peers has a huge influence towards our holistic selves thus making it vital that we become good stewards towards each other. Students are encouraged to have their share in helping their co-students in their battles so that help from the LGU through the program will also be given.
